The visit, which took place amidst efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between Mozambique and Namibia, served as a platform for dialogue on mechanisms to bring businesspeople closer together, boost trade, and promote strategic investments between the two markets.

For Namibia’s High Commissioner-Designate, fostering closer ties between the business communities of both countries represents a significant step toward expanding economic opportunities.

“It was a great pleasure to be received by the President of FUNDEC. As Namibia’s representative, we would like to work together to bring businesspeople closer and promote trade between Namibia and Mozambique,” stated David Asheelo Thomas.

According to Goulam Hussen, a business leader associated with FUNDEC, the Namibian diplomat’s visit reinforces the commitment to building bridges for more dynamic economic cooperation with regional impact.

“It is an honor to welcome the High Commissioner—recently accredited in Mozambique—to strengthen and deepen economic ties between the two countries. We hope this partnership will bring benefits not only to Mozambique and Namibia but to the entire region,” he highlighted.

During the meeting, a proposal was put forward to hold bilateral business forums. This initiative aims to foster direct contact between Mozambican and Namibian companies, identify areas of mutual interest, and facilitate investment opportunities.

This initiative comes at a time when both countries are seeking to deepen economic cooperation by leveraging their potential in productive sectors and strengthening business integration within the Southern African region. The meeting between FUNDEC and the High Commissioner-designate of Namibia took place on the same day that David Asheelo Thomas presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Mozambique, officially marking the start of his diplomatic mission in the country.
